About Us
Millers Saxophone Shop History
Millers Saxophone Shop was established in 1978, and 2006 marks our 28th year in the music business. Originally a professional repair shop specializing in band and orchestral instrument repair, Millers Sax Shop (www.millerssaxshop.com) moved to North Haledon in 1990 where it became a FULL SERVICE MUSIC STORE. The addition of a showroom enabled us to sell guitars, amplifiers, small electronics, and full line drum equipment as well as continue with quality repair work. We are also the best place to buy or rent a band or orchestral instrument. Millers Saxophone Shop means quality, name brand, fair price, and the best repair service to be found anywhere.
Repairs Completed In Timely Manner
When you bring an instrument in for repair at Millers Sax Shop you speak to the repair technician who will be working on your instrument. We pride ourselves on getting the job done right the first time, that’s why we have such a large returning client base. Additionally, we have a quick turnaround time on most repairs. We will give you an accurate price and completion time estimate when you drop the instrument off, as well as a description (verbal) of what the problems are and what repairs are needed. You will discuss with the repair technician directly what problems you are experiencing.
Why name it Miller’s Saxophone Shop?
My father and I are both saxophonists and big band enthusiasts, so we decided to name the store Miller’s Saxophone Shop. We repair and sell all band and orchestral instruments, as well as guitars and drums. Electronics are outsourced to a reputable company. In calling Miller’s a “Full Service Music Store” we mean tha we also have available a lot of music from Aebersold to Zeppelin. We have oodles of accessories by LP, CP, Selmer, Conn, Bach, Protec, Cort, Rico/ LaVoz, VanDoren, Alexander, Emerald, GHS, D’Addario, Planet Waves, Remo, Gemeinhardt, Zoom, Wittner and Korg to name just a few.
To us however full service means going beyond what is expected. It means staying late to get a horn prepared for a concert, or delivering a musical instrument personally to a house a surprise, or spending hours with customers helping them to find the right instrument or mouthpiece for their individual style.
What are my qualifications?
I learned the repair trade at the Eastern School Of Musical Instrument Repair, taught by craftsman and repair technician Fred Kirschner. The school is no longer in existence but many Eastern graduates carry on the wonderful repair tradition of the schonol. Paul Miller is a NJ State Certified Musical Instrument Repair Technician having completed the two year course at Eastern.
What’s in the future? Well, one thing is this website. Continued dealings with major manufacturers of quality name brand instruments. Perhaps E commerce will be down the road. For now, we believe that the best way to buy an instrument is to pick it out yourself.

Since the business moved to North Haledon we have had a Miniature Schnauzer in the store, named after a big band leader. Stop in and meet Buddyboy (named for Buddy Rich), and pick up a box of your favorite reeds, a pack of strings or a pair of sticks while you are visiting!
We hope to see you soon!
We are at the store 6 days a week. Monday through Friday the hours are 10 AM through 5 PM; Saturday is 10 AM to 4 PM. An answering machine is on at all times we are not there and we return all calls (973) 423-2522. In addition, we are happy to arrange special hours to meet you and discuss a repair or a purchase. Hours of operations are not written in stone. We are often at the shop after hours and before hours. So stop in!
