Beginning To Play/ Playalong CD’s

Q: What are the favorite book/cd playalongs (which should I buy first)?

A: There are a lot of playalongs available in todays market. Jamey Aebersold has a host of these book/cd packages. Aebersold is for the jazz player, and his program is wonderful because you can start with Volume 1, “How To Play Jazz And Improvise,” and go o­n to play tunes in other packages. Aebersold presently has over 100 available playalong packages. Each book comes with the words, music for C, Bb, Eb, and bass clef instruments. Millers Saxophone Shop stocks a complete line of Aebersold products.Other companies, such as Hal Leonard, have playalong supplement books for band instruments. They come in book form with a CD for each individual instrument. A beginner may want to pick up Disney Solos, or Band Jam. A more advanced player may want to pick out o­ne or more of dozens of books to choose from.
