2009 Sax Shop Update

New web address!

We have a second web address.  It is www.saxshop123.com. I find it easier to remember and type in.

Reeds, Reeds, Reeds. We carry most of the Vandoren reeds, all Rico/Lavoz products. Also Fibracell plastic reeds, plastic coated reeds. Double reeds by Emerald and Emerald Artist, also Jones. Fibercane double reeds available as well.

The colder months are a great time for practicing. What better gift to get your student going than a step up instrument for the holidays. We have very nicely priced professional saxophones like the Jupiter 2069 alto and 2089 tenor saxes; or the Selmer Cl-201 0rCl 211 wood clarinets.

Bach is back, Vandoren is Bigger !

Bach is back in production. The strike was settled a while back. It has resulted in some price increases and model number changes. The student Bach trumpet model TR300 is now the TR301. The cornet which was model CR300 is now CR301. In addition Bach has added two more trumpets, the TR500 and TR600.

Those of you who play reed instruments and use Vandoren reeds have probably noticed that they have had a significant price increase. This is due partly to the value of the American dollar and the fact that they have individually packaged each reed at a perfect humidty level for optimum freshness. I have heard from many musicians. Some of them say they “haven’t had a bad reed since the individual packaging started.” Others notice no difference at all. Anyway you slice it Vandoren is one our best reedmakers. You decide, then sign in and post on the sax shop site. Other musicians would like to know what you think. As stated above, we always have a complete selection of Vandoren reeds including Bass Clarinet and Bari Sax.

MARK VI TENOR SAX AVAIABLE !

We have a Mark VI tenor sax available. It is in mint condition. Need I say more?

Avanti Flutes

Selmer has come out with a new flute, made in America. The flute features a hand cut sterling silver Avanti-Brannen headjoint, sterling silver body and foot (low b available), inline keys and open hole design. Check under our products> flutes for the picture and price of this instrument. This instrument has a fabulous response and sound.

Last but not least…

Remember to have your instrument checked out and repaired at Miller’s Sax Shop before  concerts. As always we remind you that we repair all instruments, not just saxophones and we thank you for being our loyal customers!

This exquisite Mark VI tenor sax has a serial number which puts its manufacture date around 1969. The instrument comes with all original equipment, except there is no C* mouthpiece. We will supply an equivalent mouthpiece of your choice. The instrument has original lacquer (which is beautiful; no blemishes, scratches, or rubbed off areas), original pads, felts, corks, case. We will supply a Ray Hyman neckstrap and cork grease as well as a microfiber cleaning cloth. The price for this absolute gem is $8500. Picture to come soon.

Jupiter Band Instrument Silver Bells Promotion

Once again Jupiter is offering their Silver Bells promotion. We have included all Jupiter Band Instruments in this special sale which last until December 26th.The featured instruments are step or professional silver trumpets, flugal horns, alto, soprano, and tenor saxes. A limited amount of 25th anniversary instruments are still in stock.

Flutes At Miller’s Saxophone Shop

Miller’s currently stock the following brands of flutes: Jupiter, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Emerson and Selmer. Each individual brand is stocked from student models through professional models. Typically a student model flute has a range to low C and has closed hole design with a silver plated body. A nickel silver body is also available. Flutes are available with in line G keys or offset G keys, and with split E keys.To make the first step toward a better instrument we offer open holes. Open hole flutes come with open hole covers so the student can gradually get used to covering the keys in a new manner. Next we add a silver head, or silver head and body, or silver head, body, and foot. Professional flutes have a low B key requiring a slightly larger case. Each improvement is a bit more costly. A student flute costs around $450 while a silver head- body- foot, low B (open hole) model will be around $1200. We have all of these models from each different manufacturer in stock as we have found that each player likes something different. So stop by Miller’s Saxophone Shop for your next flute!

Leblanc Student Clarinets Feature PRAG

Vito student clarinets are equipped with an exclusive feature for the student, the Positive Radial- Alignment Guide. (PRAG) This patented guide enables beginning clarinetists to assemble the instrument correctly every time. If the instrument’s upper and lower joints are not properly aligned the bridge mechanism which links the keys of the upper and lower stack may not work properly. This could cause some notes to sound unfocused or not at all. PRAG provides a fail safe method to ensure proper alignment of the upper and lower joint every time. Currently Miller’s have this clarinet available in the new Selmer Cargo Case, a very durable case which also stores a cell phone, CD Player, IPod, and aother accessories important to the musician.

Miller’s Sax Shop Rental Center

The place to rent a band, ordhestral or percussion instrument in the Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, North Haledon, Hawthorne, Wayne, or surrounding schools is Miller’s Saxophone Shop.

Miller’s is a supplier of top quality name brand instruments from companies such as Selmer, Jupiter, Ludwig, Gemeinhardt and Leblanc.

If your child plans to play an instrument this year in school you owe it to yourself to call Miller’s Saxophone Shop, or stop by the store and pickup a rental form while checking out the instruments offered.

Instruments offered for rental are: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Piccolo, Standard Oboe, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn (Single), Baritone Horn, Snare Drum Kit, Snare Drum Kit w Orchestra Bells. Also available are drum pads (purchase only).

If you received a rental form through your school you do not necessarily have to rent from that source. Big box stores try to monopolize the rental industry with high pressure sales tactics on teachers. Miller’s is a family business in its 27th year of operation. We are professional musicians, professional repair technicians. An important thing to know is that renting from a big box store or “through the school” as many people put it, can result in a huge downtime should your instrument need repair. It is not uncommon for a damaged instrument to sit in a school for a week waiting for pickup, then wait in the big box store repair shop for a week before it is repaired, and finally wait a third week for delivery of the instrument back to school. Sometimes the child gets the instrument after sitting out for three weeks only to find that it is still broken! It can be exasperating.

Miller’s Saxophone Shop has a highly trained staff of technicians. Paul Miller is a New Jersey State Certified Band Instrument Repair Technician. The store is an authorized Jupiter, Selmer, Gemeinhardt repair center.

If you rent from us our promise is that you will have your repaired rental instrument back quickly and if for some reason we cannot get it done we will loan you an instrument. Many times students bring an instrument to me that is just a little out of regulation or bent slightly and can be repaired as you wait.

I am the owner of the store, Paul Miller. I ask that you be smart when renting. Consider that a very low priced rental may actually cost more than a school year rental from Miller’s when you add up all the charges.

Our 9 month rental is a school year rental. What that means is that you have the use of the instrument until the end of the school year. If you rent an instrument on the first week of September it would be due back the first week of June. However if you need it through the end of June there is no charge. Going on vacation and not returning the instrument will incur the monthly rental charge however. Talk to us to find out more about the great purchase opportunities for your rental. New instruments are available for rental at a slightly higher price.

Miller’s Saxophone Shop stocks all the books, reeds and accessories you’ll need in addition to items like drum sticks, mallets, tuners, metronomes, strings, rosin, blank CD’s and audio cassettes and much, much more.

Its a FULL SERVICE MUSIC STORE. Stop in and see what we mean.
